Does Internet make us lonely?

The net loom large in people’s lives nowadays, so it isn’t strange that some of them decide to interact via social networking sites. Despite unease of critics, who claim that these trend leads to death of face-to-face interactions, loneliness and lure into dangerous liaisons, researches paints a positive picture of this. For example, the Internet gives an opportunity to get and stay in touch for those who are separated because of geography, physical infirmity or social anxiety. Moreover, there are groups, which offer support for people with grave illnesses and researchers suggest that virtual relationships can be as intimate as face-to-face or ever more.
At one point some people decide to move beyond and they begin with letters by “snail mail” or talk on the telephone. Then, if they are ready, come to a meeting. Also, romantic relationships that begin on the Internet seem to be as stable over two years as traditional. Moreover, 94% from a poll of 1000 internet users reported that it makes easier for them to communicate with friends and family living far away. However, we can single out some differences between the Internet and face-to-face communication. Mainly, via net people cannot see each other, which is a powerful factor in initial attraction. Additionally, the similarity of interests and values kicks in earlier and those are more relevant than in real relationships. Moreover, the Internet is shrouded in the cloak of anonymity, so people are more likely to self-disclosure, they talk about more personal and intimate issues and begin with those quickly. Of course, the Internet also carries some danger. We can become the victim of dishonest individuals, so we must be very cautious. However, it is still a great option to begin interactions and change a stranger into a friend.
