BoJack Horsman [spoiler alert]
There's no enough words to describe how much I love this series. This is one and the only reason why I watch Netflix The variety of topics covered is endless, from politics through philosophy, culture, history, and art. BoJack is lauded for its realistic take on dealing with depression, trauma, addiction, self-destructive behavior, racism, sexism and many more.
This comedy-drama is mainly about a Horse in his 50s who tries to deal with his past, family, fame and self-destructing personality.
Another important character is Princess Carolyn, a pink Persian cat who is BoJack's agent in the first three seasons, former on-and-off girlfriend and a graduate of UCLA. She struggles throughout the series with starting a family but suffers several miscarriages. In season 5, after several failed attempts, she successfully adopts a baby porcupine from Sadie, a young woman from her hometown in North Carolina.
Diane Nguyen, a human ghostwriter, a misunderstood intellectual, a graduate of Boston University, and a Vietnamese-American third-wave feminist from Boston who constantly tries to find her way. She tries to make the world a better place, she has high demands on the world, but most importantly on herself. She got involved in writing BoJack memoir which has caused an awkward atmosphere between them.
She eventually marries Mr. Peanutbutter, but during and after Mr. Peanutbutter's run for Governor of California, their marriage begins to deteriorate, and they divorce at the beginning of season 5.
